AWS idle-resource review checklist
- Choose a representative billing period and identify the resource owner.
- Review compute utilization over business cycles, not just one quiet hour.
- Check unattached storage against backup and retention requirements.
- Review snapshots, public IPs and load balancers for active dependencies.
- Check storage lifecycle and transfer charges.
- Record rollback and owner approval before any change.
- Compare the next bill to the baseline.
